Landscape Enhancement Services

Our Enhancement Team specializes in highly skilled, periodic services to ensure that your landscape thrives and is consistently enhanced throughout time. Communication will be smooth, work will reflect well-trained staff, and results will be significant. Humanity and the environment are inextricably linked. Both strongly impact the other. As a community, we can support improvements in the quality of our soil, water, and air, as well as our many diverse species here in the Pacific Northwest, so that this place we call home thrives for generations to come. Every landscape has the potential to be part of this process on a small or large scale.

Mulches and Compost

Improve aesthetic look and feel, conserve soil moisture, act as a natural weed barrier, help prevent erosion, and decompose, enriching the soil.

Lawn Renovations

Create improved air circulation and increased water absorption, all while allowing the proper nutrients to penetrate and promote healthy root growth and overall vitality of the grass. Aeration, thatching, topdressing, overseeding, and fertilization services are included.

Food Gardens

Tree + Shrub Care

Maintain healthy, thriving trees and shrubs (including fruit trees) with aesthetic pruning.

Soil Testing, pH Adjustment + Other Amendments

Nurturing and maintaining the health and vitality of the soil so your plants become a thriving ecosystem.

Just like our maintenance department and installation department, our enhancement team utilizes holistic, kid and pet-safe methods and products. Excellence and high-quality standards are our top priorities. We focus on products that work, while also reflecting our strong values.

Here are some highlights of the approach you can expect from the Blacklotus Enhancement Team:

  • Hand pruning provides a more natural aesthetic (compared to hedge trimming) and creates healthier plants.

  • Screened arborist wood chips for mulch and weed barrier, rather than landscape fabric, are equally effective for weed management while also contributing to healthy soil building and avoiding plastic.

  • Organic fertilizers, vinegar sprays, and natural pest management tools avoid chemicals that degrade soils, pollute waterways, add health risks to humans, and damage our pollinator populations

  • Battery-powered equipment avoids pollution to air and water. Provides a safer work environment for staff and are so much more calm to be around! We do use a combination of gas powered equipment as well depending on the needs and as the market develops more options we continue to phase towards battery powered equipment more and more each year. For example battery powered Milwaukee planting augers that make for quick planting holes!

  • Blacklotus Nursery healthy soil practices produce plants that add to your native soil once they are planted, and lead to a higher success rate of new plantings.

Focus on native plants and other plants adapted to the PNW climate leads to better outcomes for your landscape and the pollinators and wildlife it supports.

Organic lawn care creates healthy soils by mulching lawn clippings, adding organic matter via top dressing, and applying organic blend fertilizers.
